Field-verified: sequencing frameless shower installs for zero rework
The order of operations that keeps 3/8" tempered panels from coming back to the shop.
Frameless shower enclosures live and die by the tile substrate. The single most common callback we see across the industry is a hinge or clip that has to be relocated because the tile setter and the glazier weren't sequenced correctly.
Our field protocol: template AFTER tile, AFTER grout, AFTER a full cure — never from architectural drawings. Substrate movement between rough-in and finish is routinely a full 1/4" in either direction, and 3/8" tempered glass has zero tolerance for a re-drill.
We use a laser template on-site, verify plumb and level at every hinge location, and only then send measurements to the fabricator. Turnaround from template to install is typically 10–14 business days.
On the install day: hinge locations get marked, dry-fit is mandatory, and every through-tile penetration is sealed with a neutral-cure silicone that won't fog the glass edge over time. The result is a shower that closes cleanly on day one and stays that way for a decade.
